What the Skills Funding Agency does?

  •  The Skills Funding Agency is a national organisation with staff based around the country. The main office is in Coventry. 
  • It will distribute about £4billion of funding annually.
  • It is the single agency that all publicly funded post-19 education and training providers will contract with (except Higher Education).

  • It delivers its remit through 4 Gateways:
  • A Learner Skills Service. A catch-all grouping including FE colleges and private training providers, offender learning, informal adult learning and services arising from the proposals for an integrated employment and skills service for the unemployed
  • The Skills Funding Agency will deliver the following operational functions
    • College/Provider Funding and Commissioning system, including Account Management.
    • Provider Accreditation.
    • Target setting, Performance Monitoring and Intervention.
    • Shared Information Platform / Settlement System.
    • Provider financial assurance and audit.
    • Learner Registration Service, Further Education Data Service, Qualifications and Credit Framework.
